| Borrowing a really good idea, the White House has released its own tax receipt calculator to let Americans learn where their tax payments are going. The calculator set up by the White House breaks down taxpayer expenses into categories -- Social Security, Medicare and discretionary spending. The discretionary spending is then divided by percentage for expenses paid on everything from the highest expenses like national security and health care to federal assistance to payments for the needy, education and job training, agriculture and interest on the debt, among other programs. However, the ability to calculate individual contribution is limited to five categories of taxpayer, all of whom do not itemize and can claim Making Work Pay and, where applicable, child tax credits. Married couples with two children earning $80,000 is the highest bracket. President Obama has insisted he wants to raise taxes on families earning $250,000 or more, but the calculator currently does not break down how much their contributions would be. That's likely in part because of several assumptions that would have to be made, including itemized deductions, which would make the calculator a much more complicated accounting tool. |

So here's a simple solution: Google should just buy the major record labels - all of them. It could afford them - people tend to forget that the music industry is actually relatively small in economic terms, but wields a disproportionate influence with policy makers.
