Wisconsin Democrats who fled the state said Sunday "they planned to come back from exile soon" and "let the full Senate vote on Gov. Scott Walker's [R] 'budget-repair' bill," which includes anti-union provisions. Democrats said that, while their return will allow the bill to pass, the "disastrous" bill has hurt Walker's popularity and will "give Democrats more leverage to seek changes in a broader two-year budget bill."
According to a Wisconsin Policy Research Institute poll , 65 percent of Wisconsinites want Walker to compromise with Democrats on the anti-union bill. The poll also found that "just more than half" surveyed have an "unfavorable view" of Walker and that 59 percent hold a favorable view of unions.

Moammar Gadhafi launched air strikes on a rebel-held town Monday to check the rebels' advance west toward the capital, as the United Nations called on Libyan authorities to end hostilities and appointed a special envoy to the country." An anonymous reader points out a study by the National Sleep Foundation which looked at the relationship between sleep habits and the use of electronic communications tech in the hour before bedtime. Dr. Michael Grasidar of Flinders University said, "My research compares how technologies that are 'passively received' such as TVs and music versus those with 'interactive' properties like video games, cell phones and the Internet may affect the brain differently. The hypothesis is that the latter devices are more alerting and disrupt the sleep-onset process." The study found that people who frequently send text messages or use their laptops before bed were less likely to report getting a good night's sleep (PDF) than people who don't. "While these technologies are commonplace, it is clear that we have a lot more to learn about the appropriate use and design of this technology to complement good sleep habits," said the NSF's David Cloud.
